Anamaria Diaz-Mendez's father's family is from Atlixco, Puebla, Mexico. Her paternal grandfather was a city historian and textile factory owner. The family has lived in a large house and property near the center of Atlixco for many years. Atlixco is near the volcano Popocatépetl (see picture) The Diaz home is right below San Miguel -the hill in the picture.
